Family-Friendly Fall Destinations in The State of Maryland
It’s almost the end of summer. The temperatures are becoming cooler, the leaves are changing and pools are closing down. It looks like summer vacations are almost over and school is about to begin. Even though we are welcoming a new season, it doesn't mean the fun has to end!

1. Larriland Farm
Nestled in beautiful Howard county, Larriland Farm hosts all sorts of family-friendly fun from pick-your-own produce, to hay rides, farm animals and more!
2. Assateague Island
Not far from Ocean City, is the beautiful and peaceful, Assateague Island. Here you can watch the pony's roam free and swim, while you enjoy the beach yourself. In July you can watch the "Pony Swim" as they cross from Assateague Island to Chincoteague. During the fall season, you can go fishing or camping along the beach.
3. Inner Harbor
Located in Baltimore, Maryland, the Inner Harbor is a great place to visit any time of the year. Filled with pubs, restaurants, night-life, museums and more, you can be assured to find something you are looking for. There are many kid-friendly attractions such as Port Discovery and the Science Center as well as adult life in every street corner.
4. Annapolis, Maryland
Annapolis offers a wide variety of activities from boat shows, shopping, sight-seeing, museums, theaters and more. Perfect for the outdoorsy person, you can find running races and sports of all kinds. Fall is the perfect time to visit the annual Renaissance Festival.
5. Maryland Zoo
Open year around, the Maryland Zoo not only has amazing animals (flamingos landing this fall) but fun Fall events as well. Check out their Zoo Zoom 5k, ZooBOOO! (Halloween for kids) or enjoy some beer at the Oktobearfest.
6. Deep Creek, Lake
There's something for everyone to do in Deep Creek! Rated #1 by msn.com, Deep Creek offers the Autumn Glory Festival of Oakland. Here you will find, kayaking, hiking, farm tours, hay rides and more!
7. National Aquarium, Maryland
Located in Baltimore's Inner Harbor, the National Aquarium is a must-see day trip! Here you can travel through a tropical rainforest, get close and personal next to sharks or even watch a dolphin show! There are more than 17,000 animals at the aquarium so you are sure to discover something new each time.
8. Fort McHenry
Bring some food as you sit under a tree and enjoy a picnic at this beautiful historical fort. Kids can earn a Junior Ranger badge and certificate and discovery history and culture at its finest!
9. Western Maryland Railroad
Take a train ride through the beautiful mountains of Western Maryland. The Western Maryland Railroad offers not only standard excursions but murder mystery trains as well! The scenic excursions take an 1.5 ride out to Frostburg, where you can enjoy lunch and visit the shops. Be sure to attend their Steel Wheels Festival this Fall!
10. Perry Hall Apple Festival
Every year, this family farm grows larger and larger and their apple festival is no different. Streets are filled with crowds, as they enter the farm. Take a hay ride through the farm, enjoy live music and over 40 vendors.
